Free To Be is a range of small-batch wines that aren’t restricted by the boundaries of the estate and its style, pushing a philosophy of minimal intervention to the extremes. Grapes for the Free To Be Weisser Riesling 2021 were hand-harvested from a 13 year old vineyard situated on a ridge at the top of the estate at an altitude of 350 meters and growing on soils that are granitic and well drained. Bunches were sorted, destemmed and very gently pressed (450 – 500 litres per ton recovery). The juice was allowed to settle roughly overnight before fermentation was allowed to proceed uninoculated in a stainless steel tank. The wine was racked and bottled straight after alcoholic fermentation. No lees contact. Residual sugar: 5.5g/l. Bottled at 12.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: Fennel, green melon, limes and granadilla on the nose.

Palate: It’s a fresh, zesty entry with sweet fruit and a gentle waxy texture on the mid-palate.

Finish: Notes of lime and melon linger, acidity brings freshness and length.
